I said that in Italian, but I'll repeat that in English.

Did the world end and I'm the only one who hasn't noticed?
There's a scary silence, no fireworks, no voices, no traffic. I went into the village and there's nobody around, the houses have the lights off, there is no smoke in the chimneys (most houses here have wood-burning stoves as heating).
The only noise was the crunch of my boots on the ice-covered road.

And now the important question:
Are you here?

Well, that's official. The world ended.
For the first time ever the New Year arrived in complete silence. No fireworks. No drunken people on the streets. Nothing.
Good that this place is still there, I guess one doesn't get rid of the fediverse that easily.

@Uilebheist There's fireworks here, but it's quieter than last year. My special kitty is watching the pretty lights through the window, and, at least for now, not overly alarmed by the noise.

@Uilebheist It got worse. Hugging her now. Will probably be offline until it's over.
