while I am still somewhat bothered by genAI images in general I am way more upset by those that are clearly very bad at what they are supposed to be doing, but still get picked up by people as illustrative examples. It's as if you think that having an image is the purpose, and that the content of the image is irrelevant

Universal trait of "AI" fans, tbh. "Look how fast it can Make Thing! So much faster than a human! We can use it to replace all our humans who Make Thing!" With no consideration of "wait, our users/customers/etc also care if Thing Good."

On 22 July, I placed an urgent order with a supplier. The last part (of two) arrived today.
The good news is that it works better than expected.

The first self-propelled wheelchair was invented in 1655 by Stephen Farfler (1633-1689). Farfler had broken his back as a child, and this had rendered him paralyzed from the waist down.
At the age of 22, Farfler used his expertise as a clockmaker to create a wheeled chair that would allow him to move independently. The frame was based on a three-wheel chassis and worked by turning handles attached to a geared front wheel using a system of cranks and cogwheels.
