Imagine we set up a national codeplatform to replace GitHub. Aka a self-hosted platform where all Dutch gov workers can store, collaborate and build gov code, with as many features as possible (also on the admin side) and respecting digital sovereignty.

@Gina So, I might be repeating what has been said, but as someone who ran both (Gitlab on corporate and Forgejo for personal projects), I'd say Gitlab has more of the bells and whistles to handle complex projects. Especially for project planning, it has been great even at the free version.
However, because of the ethical merits and federation of Forgejo, perhaps its a good idea to discuss with Forgejo devs and fund some more enterprise features?

My fault, sorry. I think of a client app. eMails only, no calendar or contacts. No fancy functions (send later a.o.). Clean screen layout, preferable similar to MacOS’s mail app.
It will run on Ubuntu 24.04.

@strght I remember Mailspring to be aesthetically pleasing (https://www.getmailspring.com/), and otherwise Thunderbird is always a trusty option.

@anparker yes, some usually look at the reply times the software registered over the weekend and claim we need moooar powaaaar. Then I show them the CPU, network and I/O load charts (near to zero load). 😂

I've been getting this spam, twice a week now. It's sent via email, to the illumos.cafe domain, and clearly written by an LLM. What are they offering? A hand selling "my" software product - namely, the illumos operating system (!!!) - and maximizing the profit from it, claiming it's 'new, revolutionary, and AI-based'.
Congratulations, spammer. You're more ridiculous than when you guys used to offer me erectile dysfunction drugs twenty years ago.

@Alberto beh era la classica "vorrei, ma non posso" di avrebbe guidato volentieri una X1/9, una Giulia Gt o una Beta Coupé, troppo costose per quasi tutti quelli normali, e chi poteva girava con la Dino Spider, la Porsche, o addirittura la Ferrari.
Erano anni che di belle macchine se ne facevano, e l'unico ostacolo era - come oggi - il portafogli.
Gli anni di "Attenti a quei due" e delle code infinite in 128 o 124 sulle autostrade per il mare 😅

Oh, finally! I was getting genuinely worried this week: up until now, no one had told me yet that 'we need moooar powaaaar'.
Obviously, it wasn't needed: if you keep spawning threads without checking if the previous ones have finished, generating a deadlock (even at zero load) but locking up the application, 'moooar powaaaar' won't solve anything
