Another morning working on the bowl.

Another morning working on the bowl. This morning was almost entirely card scraper work, though there was a little sandpaper for a few spots. Then a coat of 50-50 tung and orange oil. I’ll let that dry, give it another inspection and then on to the bulk of the finishing if all is well. More deets in the alt-text. #woodWorking #Finishing #FinishingPrep

No photos today; when I inspected the bowl this morning, I figured it’s about as good as I’m going to get it, so I started applying some Tried & True Varnish Oil. Got the first coat on and buffed out, and now it has to sit until tomorrow before I can scuff it with 0000 steel wool, and apply another coat.
I also cut some live oak scraps into equilateral triangles. I’ll cut some similarly-sized walnut or bubinga triangles. Plan is a big hexagonal blank which will be part of a bigger project.

Called the bowl done today, after getting tired of the long cure times with Tried and True Varnish Oil and switching to Birchwood Casey TruOil gunstock finish on the outside. I think it came out looking pretty good. #WoodTurning #Resin
