Augmented Reality filters are coming to the fediverse, first with Loops and soon Pixelfed!

That's absolutely not what I said.
Equate this to how people express their identity on the fediverse in other ways. Honestly, if you have an issue with a harmless dog filter, you must have an issue with furries, too.
Two harmless expressions, yet one seems reprehensible to you.
@chad Yes, it's harmless at first. But it won't stop there. I foresee further shitification of the Fediverse. And I would find that very unfortunate.
Thank you for the objective discussion.

Your application of the paradox of intolerance is horribly misapplied.

@kdekooter @dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc, what psychological tricks you mean?
Taste is subjective. Let's people enjoy their taste 🥰
@kubofhromoslav @kdekooter @dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc and maybe let’s not be dicks when expressing ours, that’s considerably more damaging to the system than a fake nose. 🙄

@Dequei great question, this is in fact 100% offline and uses system (Metal on iOS) APIs to handle real time preview and rendering.
-
@dansup Brilliant use of programmers' time. The really important stuff.

@dansup Well, it's an opinion that I'm expressing here. No more, no less. I may have a different aesthetic sensibility, and I also think that trying to copy addictive platforms is not the right way to go. That's how one thing will lead to another in the future... that's my concern.
@kdekooter @anatolegc@moralapostel @dansup @kdekooter @anatolegc copying addictive platforms in all except this is not and addiction-based ad selling platform. So I fully adhere with @dansup about adding features people want for the actual product (instead of the app itself for converting them, the people, in the product). You should calm down a bit anyway.

@dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc I'm with @moralapostel here. Besides the feature being stupid, childish and tasteless we as fediverse should refrain from pyschological tricks.
@dansup Wait. The ears aren’t real?

@kdekooter just keep in mind, the fediverse is and will be open and diverse, there is no "we, the fediverse". Many fediverse users hate AI, but others like it and post AI content. Same with "childish" filters. Same with people telling other people how they should be and what they should or should not do. @dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc

@dansup I'm very impressed by your resilience, that you are still building, while with every feature you ship, some "guardians of the fediverse" feel the urge to tell you what to do and what not. And I heavily assume most of them don't even use pixelfed or loops.
-
@moralapostel @anatolegc @kdekooter Powerful and popular features shouldn't be proprietary.
They should belong to the people.
You might not use them, does that mean nobody should too? Even if we build an ethical implementation?
@dansup agreed. It's ok to enjoy silly things. Let people have fun.
