@marcoarment You’re lucky.
Bitwarden increased the price by 100%!
From 10 to 20.
A year. -

@marcoarment Also..look at all the things you probably don’t use that we want you to pay for. But things like making the app open reliably? Naaaah.

@marcoarment Time to start paying the sweet, sweet VCs. <long digital sigh>

@marcoarment I implore you to use this language if you ever feel the need to discount Overcast.

@marcoarment if you decide you can make the switch to Apple passwords (I did last year and it works work on windows/iCloud if that’s a concern)
I found there is some massaging required in the export process to have a clean mostly lossless import. IIRC mostly around quoting and escaping fields in CSV and column names -

@marcoarment I'm old enough to remember when 1Password prided themselves on being local-only and not a subscription service... Oh have times (VC money) have changed.

@abdelkader_boui @marcoarment Wow 40% price increase??!! Time to plan a move to proton pass.
@SamuraiSakura @abdelkader_boui @marcoarment I don't know where 40% came from? Let's not spread mistruth.
Mine's going from AU$59.88 to $71.88. It's 20%. Not great but I just checked my invoice history and it hasn't increased since 2020. That's _under_ inflation per the RBA. $73.56 would have matched inflation.
(I don't love the price rise, to be clear. But it's hardly usurious. Prices go up. What you gonna do.)

@marcoarment I left a while ago when I realized the standalone versions were not receiving the same attention.
-
@marcoarment I recommend Bitwarden, and you can host your own using Vaultwarden.
@scottag @marcoarment I got sick of the longstanding ignored/denied bugs and flaky card handling.

@marcoarment Indeed, i’m “Updating” to Proton Pass…
-
@marcoarment People are reporting a 20% increase. Seems dumb.
@rickscully @marcoarment It’s 33% for the individual plan (in the US)
$36 -> $48 / year -

$36 -> $48 / year@odin @marcoarment WOW! If Apple's introduction of their free password manager didn't kill 1Password, this likely will.

@marcoarment “We are updating the chocolate ration to 25 grams. Praise Big Brother!”

@abdelkader_boui @marcoarment it should’ve been „we are altering the deal, pray we don’t alter it any further”.
@spitfire @abdelkader_boui @marcoarment
“This deal’s getting worse all the tiiiiime!”

@marcoarment updating that must be good news !

@odin @marcoarment WOW! If Apple's introduction of their free password manager didn't kill 1Password, this likely will.
@rickscully @marcoarment To be honest, this prompted me to look at some other options and Apple Passwords simply wouldn’t work for me. No option for storing credit cards, software licenses, or notes, and no system for tagging or grouping items make it a non-starter.
That said, I’m sure it’s a great option for most people that just need to save a few passwords

@marcoarment If only 1Password had heard about the economy of scale instead of AI.

@odin @marcoarment Sorry it doesn't work for you, but I would wager that most people aren't using 1Password's deeper features as a power user like you does -- but that is true of most hardware and software.
Personally, I like how easily Apple Passwords integrates with my authenticator app, and I am hoping more features are on the horizon!

@marcoarment Using this to finally move over to Apple Passwords. Once the advertising on F1 cars started, I had a feeling trouble was ahead.
@buck @marcoarment you mean the Apple that pushes F1 movie ads to your wallet?
