Non sono molti gli articoli che mi piacciono, tra quelli che leggo lì, quasi sempre solo per lavoro, però questo mi è piaciuto.
Ora dovrei trovare un'immagine per l'articolo, che dovrebbe in sostanza rappresentare un connubio bello tra pensiero scientifico e
"pensiero magico", dinamiche inconsce, ecc.
Pensavo a qualche tavola di Moebius (qualcosa da "Venezia celeste" o "Sulla stella", o altre storie o illustrazioni sue), ma credo che queste immagini siano sotto copyright, e il post deve uscire domani (la fondazione dietro la rivista online forse avrebbe i soldi per comprarne una, ma sicuramente non così "sull'unghia", non entro domani, e sul "provider di immagini" di cui la rivista ha un abbonamento non c'è nulla di Moebius); inoltre, Moebius è un po' vecchiotto, e per tutti questi motivi mi sono chiesto se magari, scrivendo qui, potrebbe saltar fuori un'immagine con le caratteristiche già esposte, e magari più aggiornata su quel tipo di immaginario, che fosse sotto una licenza copyleft qualsiasi. @bryan dementia would suck, but I'm hoping they'll have that figured out by the time I get there. They seem to have some pretty good leads. Shingles is strongly linked to cognitive decline, for instance, and I guess the vaccine protects against that.

@swelljoe I’ve never smoked and will not start. I’m happy to be a healthy dementia patient over an early preventable death.

I'm having a hard time believing in mousy Peggy, after Handmaid's Tale. June would have murdered all these men.

@bryan survivorship bias survives on survivor anecdotes. My grandmother, a lifelong smoker, died when she was about 60 from lung cancer. No dementia, though, she had that going for her. Entirely aware all the way to the end.

My grandmother quit smoking when she was 70-ish. She stated her habit of smoking daily at 12. Anyway, at 70, she was taking care of her mother at the time. Her mother (my great-grandmother) spent the last 10 years of her life with dementia.
The experience made my grandmother decide she’d rather be dead than “talk like a fool”. So she started to smoke again. She passed many years later and never had dementia.
