Larry Ellison seems to think the 1984 style of constant surveillance is something to aspire to, not something that should be avoided at all costs. Now, Oracle and friends are taking over #TikTok. I've never been a fan of TikTok, but to me this makes TikTok itself something to be avoided at all costs.

@Gina Heh, I've never really gotten into TikTok, so this doesn't really impact me personally. I will say that the assumption of ownership by a cadre of entities/individuals hand picked by the current administration of the United States is not making me feel better about TikTok. I know there was "concern" about the Chinese government, but with Musk on Twitter and Ellison on TikTok, I'm having a hard time seeing this as "better". And I live in the US. Non-Americans should be doubly worried.
