Other way around, isn't it? Why did Java choose the opposite direction from URLs?@jannem I don't think so, paths are also left-to-right, and urls were developed around the same time as java. They didn't really exist when java made that decision. So the question imo is mostly why urls are little-endian.

@jannem oh I guess actually the domain name format predates urls and java. RFC 822 is from 82. And that itself is just codifying the existing design from arpanet
