What to watch out for: issues with roster management. Clients known to support this feature are Conversations and Monal. Maybe more. How to tell? If you add a new contact to your contact list, you should not have to acknowledge again when they add you back. They should just pop up.
In Monal, if you go to account settings, in the list of supported XEPs („Protocol support for your server), 0379 should now be blue (not red).

@zeank Conversations doesn't have support for that. We have a client side variant for that. But I'm very much looking forward to implementing it. I have some ideas on how the entire adding to contact / subscription flow can be improved.
