Focusing on the positive today...

    1. Our dog Ava was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in August, and we expected she would not live until mid-September. But today, she began her day with leftover pieces of steak(!!) and chicken from our fancy restaurant dinner. (She is intentionally being very spoiled). We are at the stage of kidney disease where we feed her whatever she is willing to eat, regardless of sodium intake or other concerns. Yesterday, she walked all the way to a local playground and home. Her medical care is costly, but we are thankfully able to afford it at this point. She takes her at-home daily I.V. like an angel. She is far from ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Taking it all .

    2. After decades of being unable to lose weight for long, and constant gradual weight gain (to the point where I was carrying the equivalent of another adult), my recent treatments of have resulted in losing OVER 10lbs-- WITHOUT changing diet or exercising! In just a few weeks, I'm now the same weight I last was over 18 months ago! For the first time in many years, I finally feel hope for my weight.

    3. Last night, I went to a bookstore. Not a huge achievement ordinarily, but during the past year, I was in too much pain from my weight (arthritis, heel spurs, loss of breath) to be able to enjoy an outing on my feet, even just to a bookstore. I was able to browse the shelves and not sit down every few minutes. The experience meant a lot more in its simplicity & serenity than I can describe. Nothing is more calming to me than the smell of new books, but it was impossible to enjoy it back when I was in constant pain.

If I can keep losing weight, I plan to go to a museum again, as a goal & reward to myself when I lose enough to stand on my feet all day. 🤞🙏

#3GoodThings 1. I made bread yesterday, enough that I had an extra half loaf to use today to make an 8x8 pan of bread pudding. We were going to have it for dessert tonight, but decided that the afternoon is wet, dark and gloomy, and could be improved by a dish of warm bread pudding. We'll have just salads for dinner. (and more bread pudding tomorrow)2. I got in touch with my friend who has started a little free pantry in her shop. She wanted a few things from Costco to restock, so I ordered those things to be delivered on Friday. I'm so glad she is helping people in this way, and so glad I can contribute.3. We have committed to get another dog next week. My beloved Penny was put to sleep in early October, leaving us with just Kali. Our new-to-us dog will be Kali's half-sister Tempest, who turned 7 in September. (Tempest's nickname is Tempi. We used to joke that Penny was the first dog we had named after a pasta shape. Tempi will be the first dog we have named after a city in Arizona...)

#3goodthings #ThreeGoodThings 1) Halloween! Kiddo & friends worked since September on costumes. Kiddo had a great time!2) Laying the groundwork for three separate work projects that are all exciting (to me).3) Kiddo got all A’s again and wants to celebrate with #ThreeBabesBakeshop pie. Love it that she does the work and we all get pie!

⚕️ Physicians Office ⚕️- TIME: yesterday morning~ish, pre-noon~ish, post-breakfast- EFFORT:moderate logistics, emotions mostly well moderated- PRIMARY: boring medical life with eighteen ICD-10 diagnostic codes- RESULT: Good news! I'm back in weight target zone, for the first time in uhhh since 2017 ✨Partially to thank is one of my neuro-Rx, best described as "molecularly horrible torture", which makes eating quite unfun. so much unfun that the therapeutic prescribed dose requires ancillary Rx to reduce the "vomitus response". Good times. I don't like that Rx either, not into it.Fortunately ice cream is still great, but losing sixteen pounds in two months without trying — I'll take that win, and another vanilla mini-size It's-It. 💝#weightloss #medical #icecream #healthcare #happiness #raretimes #icd10 #morning #goodnews
