@raymaccarthy @enriquericos I used to be the purchasing manager for an artist's materials firm. Letraset and other brands of dry transfer lettering were big business for us, even into the mid-1990s.And I wouldn't say that's the only advantage to optical switches. There's a definite difference in feel, since they are switching a relay and not actually passing the main circuit's signal.

I'm really hoping for Fediverse help here.I have a 14 year old niece. She's incredibly smart and extremely motivated when it comes to engineering things.I want to get her some electronics stuff, like an Arduino kit, but maybe something with wearables, etc. to make it more relevant to her than just a breadboard. She'll also need some books on electronics, since she doesn't have the background in that.Sadly, some limitations:- I can't help her. Her mother won't let my wife or I talk to her. This gift itself will have to be given through a third party.- She has a learning disability around reading- likely dyslexia, and so we need material that's easy to read- Her English is not amazing, especially because of the learning disability. So I'm looking for a kit with a ton of instructional material. Programming, electronics, breadboard, the whole kit and kaboodle. If you have ideas, please share, and boost!#Maker #Arduino #Wearables #FediHelp #Electronics

For a stubbornness reference, in the 80’s I moved into an apartment and my electric clock ran backwards when I plugged it in. Rather than try to get it going the right direction I learned how to read it.🕑 - 10:00🕤 - 3:30⏰ - 1:51

I was out and about earlier and saw this box on a phone pole. Anyone know what it is? It's got a BEST brand marine padlock on it, which the city of Seattle uses for a lot of long-term outdoor applications, so I suspect it may be city-installed/managed (unlike the smaller white Ricochet boxes with one antenna).#AskFedi #Wireless #Telephony #Electronics
