It is labeled "Temperature Control"
Next to 1 it says "min"
Next to 10 it says "max"Which setting will make it the coldest?
@futurebird Honest to God, it makes no sense whatsoever, and I just adjust it until I get what I want, and ignore meaning altogether. I think *1* means colder. That's where I start. But I don't *know* that. And in the end, I just want my beers to be hella cold, and I fiddle until I get that.

I can see a market for calibration stickers for different manufacturers in °C °F and K trouble is obtaining data from them to print those.

@futurebird in case of a physical knob to turn: depending on which numer comes right after "off": this is the warmest. At the other side of the scale it is "coldest".
"Min" being "the minimum change of temperature compared to initial temperature/room temperature".

@futurebird@sauropods.win I voted "10" because "bigger number = more work = more colder" is the convention here in Europe. It's not very intuitive, and the best intuition I have is that "off" is next to the low end of the scale.

So I can get rid of that pesky door switch, and the door itself and my refrigerator would become a freezeray! How cool is that ( very cool! ).

removing the door prevents it being a sealed spaceno, not that seal 🦭🚫
mini fridges work the same, but smaller
there is no beam, its about creating a closed box with tubes that move heat outside thus leaving cold inside

alright, its not a reverse microwave, since that creates heat and doesn't grab it and move it INTO the boxbut the experience for the end user with the dial is similar
I think you might already have a few screws loose already

I also might add that having the door installed prevents the space from being sealed, given that they are free roaming where one lives and other means do not prevent them from having access to ones fridge. -

Not going anywhere so not reason it should. Also You are very correct with the screws ... regulating our own screws is a very important basic right that has a very tangible effect on our self esteem and wellbeing and should be done with care and proper attention. Also 'cause of its influence on others. -
On the "Diplomat" model fridge the coldest setting is 10 and the warmest is 1.
Why did they call it "The Diplomat" ?
What a comical name for a fridge.
Because diplomacy is a dish best served cold?

As a software engineer and engineering manager, I am mildly concerned for my employability in the future. However, I've had a good career, with much more luck than I deserve. People in my profession have been notably pampered and paid extremely well. As automation turns its Sauron-like eye to my own industry, it's hard to say with a straight face that we have been unfairly treated. I also think that there are, and will be for the foreseeable future, a lot of options for people who like to code.

I think that using LLMs to create text, images, video or code is an empowering technology for a lot of people. I think especially with code, it gives people who don't code and who've never had control over their computing experience more agency in their life and work. I think that's a net positive result.

I generally don't like LLM-generated images or video. I mostly don't like LLM-generated text -- it's usually flat, wordy, and full of business jargon. I don't use LLMs for either of these things.
