I get ghosted by a friend after persuading him to use Fediverse, Matrix, Delta Chat. Seems like some people are avoiding me after thinking I do not conform the norms.
Another friend told me "you have been lied to", "these things are not secure and they are lying", and so we've never talked again.
Even showing F-Droid and sideloading apps, they told me it is not secure.
Thank you so much to the big tech that have successfully brainwashed people with their propaganda. Here is my 🖕 finger.

@serigala_tropis the people around me at least see the value of foss and the fediverse. They just don't migrate due to inertia and due to defeatist views like saying that corporations already control everything and there's no way to escape, so they might choose convenience instead.

I get tired of watching people run from one abusive relationship right into another, nearly identical one.

Some person making products in their garage that provably out-perform the large company offerings get ignored because "their thing cant possibly be better, they dont have the budget and resources!"
Its so weird. I know people who treat paying large money for something from a large brand as a point of pride. Clearly I am not normal in this regard as I view everything on its own merits.
It is clear that for most people, and "brand" released thing feels safer; Marketing works, I suppose. The smallest bit of self awareness and critical thinking should snap these people out of it but it just doesnt happen.

I get it, but the network is still so niche and with so few daily active users that 100 million dollars invested in it seem A LOT. They have stagnant growth.
For the fediverse, yes I have ideas about sustainability (ie. public institutions treating it as a public utility and funding its server and development costs)

Realistically, I see two scenarios in which they could generate a return on investment: enshittification or using Bluesky to promote the crypto agenda.
I think there's a very small chance they'll incorporate crypto for useful e-commerce or smaller transactions, like donations or Patreon.However, communication about these concerns is lacking. Many institutions only see this platform, which has a lot of money for development and advocacy, as having a better "solution" than the Fediverse.
We also just talked about that now. I also see many challenges in finding good solutions for financial sustainability for development, community care, and advocacy. Do you have any ideas about this?
Something like a global "prediction market" involving a lot of cryptocurrency? In other words, gambling.

Ti dico solo che mia sorella (pneumologa) che non mi voleva nemmeno auscultare (perché con mia figlia sono un po' allarmista, e perché deve partire per il Giappone e vuole evitare di ammalarsi) oggi mi ha auscultato e mi ha tirato giú qualcosa come tre o quattro medicinali diversi.
