@stefano, I just watched the recording of Patrick Hausen's @EuroBSDCon distributed storage session and at the end of the session somebody said you might have compared #SeaweedFS with #Garage and that you found SeaweedFS more suitable.

@justine mmm let me think...oh, maybe I understand why. I modified the "show other instances' timelines to unlogged users" to "no". This probably broke this behaviour. I tried to revert the change. Could you please test it now?

Alright, one more reason to love #FreeBSD: I just upgraded one of my nuidns servers without issue. For those who don't know, nuidns is my rocinante+bastille based jail system for anycasted authoritative and recursive DNS. It has two commands, create and destroy. All I had to do was bootstrap 15.0-RELEASE with @BastilleBSD - and update the rocinante scripts to use the newer release, then run a destroy, followed by a create. Done, no errors, no warnings. My hard work on this system over the years is certainly part of why it works so well. But FreeBSD's dedication to the principle of least surprise is what makes it possible. If I had done this with Linux+Docker, I would likely have to retool it with every major distro release and often for the minor ones.I love FreeBSD because it just works, and it does so consistently.

Migrated my ZigBee2MQTT to BSD, of course running inside a Jail (and with IPv6!) 🙂 All running perfectly fine and as stable as you'd expect from FreeBSD Plus the rc.d script is so minimalistic and simple, that I don't get it, why anyone would prefer intransparent systemd to that!Another part of my home-infrastructure migrated over! #freebsd #jais #zigbee #mqtt #smarthome #unix #homelab
