Over here refactoring a codebase by hand without an LLM. Why?
Because I don’t really care about the outcome _alone_.
I care about achieving the outcome via a certain, inefficient method because I enjoy the struggle.
The goal of the refactor is a newer, more elegant codebase I find pleasing. But the purpose of doing it is get lost in a pleasurable, edifying state of flow.
The value of the refactor is inseparable from the value of the process to get there.

tl;dr
I’m doing it for fun.

@jimniels Aaaah, the pleasure of abstractions clicking into place after weeks of connections floating at the edge of one's grasp!
(had one of these days not so long ago, soooo satisfying)

Always a good reason, no matter what capitalism keeps telling us. 🔥
