my #webcomic project that i've been cooking on for a little bit:

Stars Light Our Path is a warm fantasy journey following scavengers Sky and Ruko as they travel through strange forests, windswept ruins (perhaps some haunted boneyards as well), reclaiming old tech and magic to clear their debts and get a chance to start new lives.

It's a learning project for me and it'll release on an "as its made" basis, but the first strip will be out next week, with more soon :)

Sky (they/them) was an airship mechanics apprentice before getting dragged into the salvage corps. They've never left home before and now they're experiencing the whole wide world, with equal parts dread and excitement

Ruko (she/her) is a mage from ????. She's laid-back, occasionally whimsical. Says she's never been this way before, but always seems to know where to go and who to talk to.

This was my first "test panel", which I partially showed already, to prep for how I might handle background shots.

some strips will feature these sweeping backgrounds and simplified character silhouettes, although I do intend to do a lot more character art than backgrounds!

I wanted to test out the workflow and see how it felt to gather resources for a panel, do a quick pass on ink, color, and dialogue.

i've been such a fan of webcomics for a long time, and have had this "sigh maybe someday" feeling about making one. always too intimidated and uncertain about what i wanted to make until very recently!

@ghostcatte yeah, it's a huge barrier, but once you get started I think it'll get easier. and having it as a goal to make it a learning and growing experience is real smart, this doesn't have to be a forever project, just something to pour your creativity into in ways that is good for your heart, rather than just capitalism forever.

I'm really looking forward to reading it, however it turns out!

@j12i for now it'll be posted here and my bluesky. I'm looking at setting up a website but wanted to focus on the actual development and art parts first :)
