Switched browsers from Firefox to Waterfox this AM. From the bsky thread, they seem to be having a glitch where FF's not showing up as an import option, but I simply exported bookmarks as HTML and imported that way. I don't save logins in my browser and don't really use extensions, so that was about all I needed. Now I'm relogging into my main accounts (like mastodon). Overall straightforward, and the experience is pretty much like FF.https://www.waterfox.com#firefox #waterfox #noAI

@yoasif E2EE, until your password for Firefox Accounts gets compromised (anyone with the FxA password can decrypt your sync key stored in Mozilla's servers. Even if their device is not synced and the account has no synced devices). And knowing that many people will still reuse their passwords across different services, this is not a remote possibility. Mozilla can still be forced by authorities to hand over a user's sync key, and if said authorities know that their target has likely reused their password for Firefox Sync with another website that got a breach, well that user can just hope that there's nothing incriminating in the synced data...They shouldn't have replaced Sync 1.1 (aka Weave) with its J-PAKE where the sync key never leaves the synced device (the only thing the server will have is encrypted data it can't read, even if the sync password gets compromised).@fizzo @jbz

So a little while ago, Firefox introduced a profiles option to separate your different uses.Great, but now every 6 hours, I get a prompt telling me to make a new profile because the one I'm using is built on an older version of Firefox.Cool, so I go to make a new profile. Right? You can't make a new profile without going into about:whatever, and if I have to look it up, I'm not doing it. The new profile doesn't import from the old profile. It messed up my sync to my Android Firefox. Which is really the only thing keeping me on Firefox. Great. This works on my old profile though. So today, I tried making a new profile again for work purposes. Have you tried switching between profiles? Yeah, I'm still confused.Imagine being funded on the degree of Mozilla and not understanding the importance of "migration" and "backwards compatibility", especially in a consumer product. That's just bad UX, fam. Back to containers it is.#Firefox
