thinking about lighting systems in block game some more. i really feel like the minecraft style lighting is more akin to bounce lighting than anything else
so if i already have something approximating bounce lighting, then what i need is ... direct lighting?
i wonder if i could trace direct light from face vertices to light sources. and then add the current "bounce light" and the direct light 🤔

and removing direct lighting is much easier. if you remove a light source you can just remove that much contribution from each vertex

ok turns out im not doing this since its more complicated than i thought and i can feel my motivation ebbing away by the second
