@weekend_editor It made for a nice Joshua/Statice demo.

Does the text output of your Fortran code look dull?Does the text output of your Fortran code look dull? Cheaply increase the value of your software and attract new users by restyling with these newfangled graphics primitives.
As seen on this Stanford CS Technical Report published in 1978.

Alex White on what he means by "organic software".Alex White on what he means by "organic software". A good blog, by the way.
Organic software would represent the hardwork of software craftspeople, aka those that give a shit. Software that is free from data collection, LLM slop and enshiftication. Instead, it would be created with optimized, well tested code and features driven by the best interests of users.

Today's blog post:@weekend_editor As a user I lived through several computing revolutions and technologies. But I've never seen any next big thing being forced by the industry and press upon everyone everywhere at such scale, with everyone evaluated by how much they use it. The intensity of this push is unprecedented and breathtaking.
Did I miss something in the past?

These days I would probably go with a Tuxedo device though.

What are your thoughts on someone not owning a smartphone?#AskFedi@Saorsa I have no particular thoughts: if the person prefers not to own a smartphone, then good for them. A friend of mine is like that: he doesn't own a smartphone, only a feature phone that supports only calls and SMS.
