"how's ram shortage going"@whitequark I wonder if all this stupidity will end up raising the prices of the laptop renting contracts most IT companies have with OEMs… interesting times awaits us, if it does. 😝
-
Apparently my Fedi promo video is giving error messages on YouTube (shocker).@_elena “Elena, congratulations… [stupid rant]…”
“No! Congratulations to you, for making it a whole day without shitting your pants… Oh, no! Don’t worry babe, you’ll make it one day… 😘”I mean, how seriously should one take a moron? 🤪

Today is European 112 Day 🇪🇺@EUCommission We take it for granted, but, Oh, boy! should we be thankful this service exists… Huge thank you to operators working these lines. 🤗

Today is European 112 Day 🇪🇺@phl @Caprarius @mikaeleiman @EUCommission
YYYY-MM-DD: good for machines (and people working with them)
DD-MM-YYYY: good for people (easier for conversations and casual use)
MM-DD-YYYY: seek help…(Jk, of course 😆)

Welcome to Mastodon, @HennaVirkkunen !@EUCommission @HennaVirkkunen Welcome! (Though I think I already saw a post by her already 😁).
Now, let’s encourage all MEPs to leave that oligarch controlled platform (X), and address EU citizens using exclusively the EU controlled @ec.social-network.europa.eu Mastodon instance. I would much like to know what they’re saying, since I have no account there, but I’m here. What do you say? 🇪🇺 -
Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.@hpod16 @lucien One example I like to repeat a lot: imagine that when a channel you follow on YouTube publishes a video, you saw that publication on Twitter. And you could leave comments and give likes directly to that YouTube video from that same Twitter publication… you can do that on the Fediverse with Mastodon and PeerTube. That’s the nature of federated content using a single protocol, but sharing different content on different instances of different services.
-
Full Moon@GandalfDG @adelfaure Yep! I agree. It’s just fantastic! May look great on a T-shirt, I think. 😊
-
Your data.@EUCommission You have the means, and the correct platform (Mastodon). Now tell MEPs to leave X, where the discourse is controlled by an American oligarch, and address EU citizens exclusively on Mastodon, where they can’t be silenced or censored, and the EU has complete control. #leavex #EUMastodon
-
Your data.@carbon_compound @leavex @EUCommission @benroyce Ad-hominem. Unnecessary. A detail that derails the conversation. MEPs need to leave that platform now. Frankly, these “Gotcha!” replies come across as immature. It would be better if you had some kind of argument in favor or against. But no, just trying to gain some quick internet cred. Sad. A waist of time for everyone.

Let's do this.@TechConnectify First I saw Luke Miani. Now Alec. Wow! Much respect to you guys. That takes some courage. I understand your frustration. You should not be silent in light of fascism. I wish the best for all of you. I hope it’s the beginning of real change for the good. Greetings from Spain. 🇪🇸

With all the tiktok drama I have been telling people Mastodon is still here and kicking!!@taylorlorenz A lot of good points here, so won’t repeat them. But to put it simple, and citing The Matrix, it’s a red pill, blue pill situation: red pill, you jump on the Fediverse, and take part in a new concept of social media. No corporations, no algorithm, no tracking, no centralized servers. Blue pill, you stay in corporate controlled land, with the algorithm and ad tracking cookies. You’ll keep yelling at bots and bigots. So, their choice.

Exactly.@boris @scottjenson Yes, sorry for using “instances”. But trust me, I want federated services to flourish, regardless of protocol.
To be honest, I’m glad the “ATmosphere” name’s been coined. People need to talk about that, the way others talk about the Fediverse, or the Web, and not ATProto, ActivityPub, or HTTP. The protocols are for developers. The rest needs communities, identities, and to know of the services that provide the means to connect. Imho, of course. -
Exactly.@boris @scottjenson I’m also on Bluesky, I’ve been waiting to see other instances interacting with it or even, a bridge to ActivityPub (heck! Even Threads was trying!) I’m still waiting. If you put all your efforts on selling just one place, if you don’t put your weight into promoting the community (the protocol is irrelevant to the user, most Fediverse users don’t know about ActivityPub), you have no interest in federating, imho.
-
Exactly.@boris @scottjenson There’s been a great effort of talking about the Fediverse, and not just Mastodon.
https://jointhefediverse.net/ (among others)
But if we’re talking about Mastodon, there’s been an effort to offer different instances:
https://joinmastodon.org/ (directly from Mastodon)
You search “Join Fediverse” or “Join Mastodon”, and you get offered a choice.
What do you get when you search “Join Bluesky”? Or “Join ATmosphere”? (Didn’t know that was even a thing) -
Jeff Bezos is saying the quiet part out loud.@terminaltilt Him and all the other billionaires and tech bros can go fuck a cactus. 🌵 They can kiss it and call it Ramona if they want. Billionaires should not exist. They’re the cancer of our societies. #BillionairesShouldNotExist

Are we all millenials here or is that a misperception?@david_kehm @thordis We’re the 8-bit generation. We were exposed to lead more than any other generation. We were in the middle of a technological revolution. If you want an emoji to define our generation, it would be 🤷♂️. I think we just want to be left alone.
