🌄 Arriving late in the day, I captured the sunset behind the Ferris wheel, then enjoyed a beer and relaxed.

Hotel Sakartvelo. One of many abandoned resort buildings scattered across the spa town of Tskaltubo in western Georgia. Once part of a busy Soviet-era holiday industry, the hotel is now an empty shell of concrete and broken stairwells.
To capture this shot, I was perched (uneasily) on a matching staircase on the other side of this lobby. Needless to say, I was relieved to step back onto solid ground again!

Malsis School, in Crosshills near Keighley (North Yorkshire). Photos of the abandoned school taken a few years ago, after it closed and had lain derelict for a while.
Founded in the 1920s, it operated within a 19th-century mansion.
It closed in 2014 after going into administration.
Now it is renovated as a nursing home specialising in mental health care.

👻🚂Locomotive graveyard. Lebanon’s ghost train stations stand frozen in time and choked by unchecked plant growth.
The first railway opened in 1895 under the Ottoman Empire. It ran from Beirut to Damascus. By the 1930s, Lebanon had joined the Orient Express network via the Taurus Express link through Homs.
After decades of decline and wartime damage, the final train service ran in 1990.

Hundreds of Volkswagen Beetles and Bus Campervans are organised into rows and clusters, seemingly based on age and model.

Kraftwerk P, a disused coal-fired power station in Germany. Built during the 1920s, it was intended to provide additional power during peak hours of electricity demand.
Brown coal (Lignite) was supplied to the power station from nearby opencast coal mines, generating over 50 megawatts of electricity after further 1940s modernisation.

A large and decadently decorated Portuguese mansion. This house is located in picturesque countryside.
The most beautiful is the dining room, bright and elegant with tall patio doors and a ceiling edged in gilded plasterwork.
The walls are lined with painted panels showing pastoral scenes, distant towns, travellers on roads, calm waterways, and a volcanic eruption!

An abandoned swimming pool, somewhere in France.
Between the early 1970s and 1980s, 184 of these pools were built using prefabricated designs.
Each pool sat beneath a 35-metre dome. Sections could pivot open, letting in sunshine during the summer. It is often nicknamed "Piscine Tournesol" or "Sunflower Pools". This is in reference to the similar way that sunflowers turn to follow the sun, echoing the pool's opening roof design.
