Has anyone used the #Nextcloud Office app? Is it good for end users? I'm not big on any office applications, so I am a terrible judge.My mom's church (and my mom) have ancient computers that need replacing. I may just try to get them to run something not Microsoft. But I won't push them into Google's open, razor wire clad arms either.I am also evaluating #Libreoffice

Don't be a fool (like I was) when it comes to #jails on #FreeBSD. I ignored them despite using FreeBSD for decades, because I had no problem that could not be solved w/o them and thought "why learn yet another technology I barely need".But it's not only about solving problems. It gives you a super lightweight and fast tool to test things (and trashing 🗑️ them with zfs destroy) without cluttering your configs or interfering with production services.E.g. I hesitated to run a webserver for publishing content because I didn't want a publicly accessible Apache on my mail relays, nor on my Nextcloud instance at home.With jails, the MX is left unmodified. If I feel like it I could move it to a different system just using tar or cpio or zfs send.All I needed to accomplish that was a few shell scripts to initially generate a jail template and, of course, the invaluable book "FreeBSD Mastery: Jails" of @mwl .What motivated me to get started? All thespeakers at #EuroBSDCon showing what incredible things they do with Jails. OmniOS has had an emu zone brand for a while - running qemu in a zone the same way that bhyve is run in a bhyve branded zone.I've just added the emu brand to Tribblix. I'm sure the brand framework as a whole is working - with it I can boot up Tribblix under qemu in a zone just fine. But that's x86 on x86, now need to work on getting aarch64 and sparc guests booting (and most importantly being able to access some form of console).

At the bottom of your ~/.bashrc you can add the linesPS0="$(tput cl)"PS1="$(tput ho)$PS1"(depending on whether your system uses termcap-vs-terminfo, those might need to be "tput clear" and "tput home" respectively)The $PS1 moves the cursor to the top/home position before displaying your normal/previous $PS1The $PS0 clears from the cursor to the end of the screen before running the command you typed.Is it useful? nuintari's rules of networking 0x5f:Never start a hostname with anything other than an alphabetic character. There is a significant amount of software that cannot deal with labels starting with anything else.
