RE: https://fsoc.lol/2026/01/26/looking-for-self-hosting-companions/Still figuring out the best way to interact with the #fediverse. I think at the moment and the way #mastodon integrates with #wordpress it's best to primarily use the infosec.exchange account and limit @site to community / website updates.Anybody else on their #selfhosting journey? Or interested in following along?
@hans it is indeed fully based on ATProto which means: everything is public. People can easily see the accounts anyone is blocking, which has potential for abuse. In addition, requiring government IDs to sign up isn’t really my idea of “privacy focused.”Moreover:They completely plagiarized the concept behind Eurosky… mere days before its launch. Only difference: requiring IDs.I’ll cover this and more in an article this week…
@rashunda Hello Rashunda! Happy to have you here 😊 I was also a little overwhelmed when I first arrived on the Fediverse 3 years ago. My biggest piece of advice would be to follow @FediTips and check out: https://fedi.tipsIf you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me... or other Fedi people using #AskFedi for example.Have a great day!
@wakest @rimu@piefed.social cc @rimu@mastodon.nzoss.nz @hongminhee I have been updating the OP on hackers pub and piefed hasn't gotten any of the updates it seems. looking at it from NodeBB it is indeed getting the updates from there so I can tell that its definitely something that needs fixing or bug reporting, but I don't know where the bug even is to report
#fediverso
@stefano thanks. I'm pragmatic about levels of engagement here and elsewhere. Looking at other instances' local live feeds, in isolation, was … erm … I'm not sure how to describe the overall experience, but it was worth it.

@77nn @oblomov I recently got a router/gateway to a new ISP. They have intentionally nerfed the web interface to force your user of a phone 'cr'app. I managed to re- enable the main login with their 'cr'app, yet the latest update nerfed other pages.IMO this is just enshittification.
@CathyBikesBook @fediverso As far as I know, Login from Mastodon does not work on Lemmy and vice-versa. From my point of view this is a weak point, although we can say the same about e-mail: you can read and write from and to proton, tuta, yahoo, gmail, etc. no matter what mail provider you have. But if you have a gmail account you can't use it to login into yahoo mail.

Sorry, I should have reworded that entirely! What a goofball I am. I was going to offer up my snac instance, but after reading your list I don't think this tiny snac will be what you want at all! :)

They completely plagiarized the concept behind Eurosky… mere days before its launch. Only difference: requiring IDs.
@shironeko I see what you mean. I guess you can put it that way. So all the servers that respect reply controls will "ignore" the reply and not display it, making it basically invisible to the original poster and pretty much all their followers.Outdated servers and servers set up to purposefully ignore reply controls can be blocked.Seems like a pretty good solution.
