  • Just played the arcade version of Exerion.

This game was ahead of its time. Released in 1983, it was doing parallax backgrounds which gave it a 3D effect. And this makes a big difference for a game that’s pretty much like Space Invaders and Galaga.

Which is why home conversions fared poorly. You do not want to play the Famicom or MSX versions of Exerion because they fare very poorly.

  • Ford, Take Note: Classic Pickup Becomes the EV We Want

Ford does sell an electric pickup, but not very many of them. We can’t say for sure, but it’s possible that if the F150 Lightning had the classic cool of [ScottenMotors] 1977 F150 SuperCab conversion they’d have better numbers.
The battery box sits where a V8 used to choke on well-meaning emissions controls.
On Reddit, [Scotten] shares the takeaways from his conversion effort, which involved a custom Tesla-cell battery pack and a new rear axle assembly to house the Tesla SDU (Small Drive Unit). A Large Drive Unit (LDU) would probably fit, but the SDU already puts out 264 HP, which compares rather favourably to the 156 HP this truck’s malaise-era V8 put out stock. The old F-bodies were great trucks in a lot of respects, but even an die-hard ICE enthusiast is probably not going to be sad to see that motor go.

Choosing to put the integrated drive unit in the rear axle complicates the build compared to other conversions that re-use the
Before the bed goes on, you can see the new rear axle with the Tesla SPU. There might be room for another, smaller battery under there.
stock transmission and differential, but saves you all the losses associated with that frankly unnecessary powertrain hardware. The takeaway there is to figure out all the mechanical work on the chassis, because the EV stuff is actually the easy part. [Scotten] had the wheels turning a full year before he got the brakes figured out, because even if they’re just the rears and even if there’s regen– you want all the breaks to work on your test drive.

With the 100kW power pack, he’s getting about 220 miles of range. From the pictures, it looks like he’s filled up most of the hood space with that battery, but we can’t help but wonder if there’s room under the bed where the gas tank(s) lived to squeeze in more cells for those of us who need to go further.

Sadly the design isn’t open source, but [ScottenMotors] is apparently doing conversions on commission and open to selling kits; you can check that out on their website. In that, he’s following in the series-hybrid footsteps of Edison Motors.

While we respect the hustle to design an all-new rear end in this hack, you don’t even have to pull the internal combustion engine if you want to play on easy mode. You don’t need to be a nanoscience professor like [ScottenMotors] to pull off an electric truck, for the record– [Mr.G]’s high school class did a great job on a kei truck.

Thanks to [JohnU] for the tip!

  • @penryu for me, I have a particular turn on 101, just past Gaviota Beach, which is where Southern California ends and central California starts. The Bay Area/Central California border is at Gilroy. The Bay Area/Northern California border is just north of Ukiah. And from there it just keeps going until Oregon.

Just an #AskFedi session. I currently installed my GoToSocial instance on VPS and now I'm conflicted about how to organize the project better. GoToSocial is needed to interact with Fediverse users, as the other platforms miss some activities. ⁃ WriteFreely: very good, minimal to write, but it has no space for search or comments. It's OK just for the stories.⁃ WordPress: it has federation through plugin, comments appearing on the site, but not yet usable as a fediverse actor for common interaction, with an ordinary client. Icecubes, Mona, Phanpy, Enafore, Tweesecake, Elk, etc. And "enable mastodon apps" is still buggy.⁃ As I have contents both in Italian and English, I currently have to choose: do I federate the English and Italian WordPress sites where real world and long-form fictions are published, and have just an unified project's instance on GoToSocial where I personally talk (me and my other co-worker) both in Italian and English? I honestly am very conflicted. #activitypub #gotosocial #WordPress

mobileatom@flipboard.com You've touched on a very interesting point. By the way, I've never figured out whether your Flipboard account will ever be able to see my reply, and to be honest, I'd be very curious to know what a Flipboard user sees when they receive a reply from the free Fediverse... Returning to your observation, I see the Fediverse as an integrated ecosystem, but integration doesn't always have to be symmetrical. [image: 1764879043010-31741512-04f3-4c0f-99f0-8314a4498402-image.png] To put it simply, Bookwyrm users and Peertube users aren't interested in viewing content from other social networks! In the Fediverse, there are programs that focus on one of the three areas in the image above, and programs that occupy two or more reference areas. For example, I find the fact that Mobilizon users can't see Friendica events much more problematic than the shortcoming you noted on Pixelfed... Pixelfed certainly "looks" like a social network, but it's primarily a place where users share their "personal art galleries." While I'm not a fan of dansup@mastodon.social, I recognize that he's making great strides to increase the interoperability of his creation, and Pixelfed has grown better than any other software in the Fediverse on three key levels: improving interoperability creating a beautiful and ergonomic app brand identity I'm sure he'll find a way to make text content visible in the future, but honestly, right now, it doesn't seem like a priority for Pixelfed's development and success. That said, your observations are a very interesting starting point for the development of software and interfaces in the Fediverse.

Does anybody know the admins of https://p.lu?Years ago I opened my PeerTube channel there very ingenuously, just because the domain name was super cool, but I found myself locked in a PeerTubr server I don't know at all…Furthermore, by default all newly published videos are blocklisted, and mad publicly available only after admin approval, which takes weeks…I tried to reach out multiple tiles, both via email and via support form, but I never got any reply.#PeerTube #admin #FediAdmin #question #help
