@aeva huh. yeah, gonna start calling it creepy too. thanks. makes me feel better about the very few times it *does* bring up something relevant, like that side eyed thanks you give to creepy random strangers that somehow managed to help you without you even wanting them to.

@aeva they appear to tweak their algo regularly and sometimes it's *surprisingly* good for me, but the most recent tweak (5-ish days ago?) has been an unmitigated disaster

It has to know every little detail of your life in select the exactly right cookie at the exact right time for you to reject because in that moment you don't feel like a cookie.It's the little old lady problem... she has to want to cross that exact street at that exact time, so randomly helping her across is annoying to her.

It’s the time of the year when the Earth circles the sun, and I age another year on this planet. I will have traveled around the sun 37 times, what a ride. I remember the earlier rides fondly but seeing the traction Inkwell has received is making this next trip unknown and exciting.
With that said, you might notice I’m less active on here and slower to respond to feedback. However, I’ll be back to my regular schedule next Monday. I set up a monitoring stack to keep an eye on the health of the site so I should get notified if anything breaks.

Thinking about one of the least helpful comments I ever got. In response to someone saying "Well, all this Spritely stuff seems interesting, but will anyone ever really get it? Could any of the things you're working on really take off?"
To which I had said: "When we were working on ActivityPub, it wasn't obvious that it was going to succeed, and a lot of people told me the whole concept of a decentralized social networking spec is ridiculous. And Jessica Tallon and I, who both worked on ActivityPub, are working on Spritely."
To which they said: "Yeah, well lightning doesn't usually strike twice, so is it really likely you'll succeed again?"
