Yes I'm a fan of the creative team that produces Pluribus. Yes, it's an Apple TV show. Because yes, Android users can get the Apple TV App on Google Play, subscribe to it, and watch the show.
Yes I still ask the interview question "Do you like creative people?"
The X-Files producers had a problem: Season 1 was a big hit, but where would they get ideas for another 24 episodes for season 2?
A sci-fi nerd / Twilight zone fan from Virginia went to film school, saw season 1 of the X-Files, and thought it was the coolest show ever. He wrote a fan script for it.
The X-Files producers saw his fan script, and said "This is really good!" So they hired him to be a writer for X-Files season two.
He worked on the X-Files for 7 years.
Then he had a weird idea for a disturbed show about a high school chemistry teacher that becomes a meth dealing drug kingpin.
Great Movies and TV, are made by great Movie and TV makers. Creative people, working together, to produce something new.
Human beings love stories. Some of us go so far as to say that human beings need stories.
Sometimes I think that people forget that our role is to support creative people.
I've never met Vince Gilligan. I don't know him personally. I don't know if he's a nice person.
I only know his work.
Or more accurately, the output of his work. The tiny bit that makes it through all the rough drafts and bad takes, and didn't get cut in editing, and that studios released.
And I know that he didn't produce his shows by himself. He was part of a team, that is in turn part of an entire ecosystem of people and companies and organizations that support the production of creative work that we all enjoy.
I like creative people, and the ecosystem that supports them.
No Twilight Zone? No X-Files.
No X-Files? No Breaking Bad.
No Breaking Bad? No Pluribus.
It's easy to see how the world would be missing something if those never happened.
What's harder to see, is that there are other stories that didn't happen because we didn't support Black producers in 1959.

@mekkaokereke Mekka, I know this is not the point of your post, BUT.
Vince Gilligan, since Breaking Bad, has been making a series of podcasts in which he and various team members talk about the fun and difficulty of making the episode in question. Where did the ideas come from? What were the tough shots? Who were the interesting guest stars? Who on the team did what amazing technical feat to make the fantastical seem real?
They are great podcast episodes.

"By comparison, at least, the way the Chinese government speaks about AI is more modest. Yes, China’s economic leadership views AI as a priority and has boldly claimed it seeks to lead the world by 2030. Yet the rhetoric lacks the eschatological tone common in Silicon Valley. Chinese economic planners appear more interested in AI as a tool for industrial processes than as a means of creating a superintelligence that will reach the singularity. The State Council’s 2025 “AI+” initiative is focused entirely on efficiency-enhancing applications rather than intelligence explosions.
There is another important difference. China is banking far more heavily on simpler, lower-cost open-source AI models. In the US, most of the leading “frontier” AI models are secret and proprietary, in part as a business model and in part due to the apocryphal fears that the wrong actors could trigger human extinction. The smaller, lower-cost Chinese models may be seeking, in that sense, to be the more nimble 1970s Toyota rivals to the giant American cars produced by General Motors.
More importantly, China is hedging its bets by investing heavily in a wide range of other technologies that might reasonably be described as “the future”. In 2024, the country invested an estimated $940bn in clean-energy capex, broadly defined as renewables, electricity grids and energy storage (batteries), dwarfing its AI investments. In these sectors, AI is meant to be a complement — the glue rather than the structure.
While China’s overall economy remains weaker than it was in the 2010s, elements of this broader strategy seem to be bearing fruit."

Perchè ci sono degli spostati mentali che casualmente si trovano al governo di nazioni, con desideri imperialisti.Quindi so che sarebbe meglio costruire scuole e ospedali con i soldi delle armi, ma se poi vengono bombardati son soldi spesi male... Un aeroplanino in questo mondo è investimento necessario.
Come dire che sarebbe bello se potessimo spendere invece che stipendi per poliziotti, in insegnanti.
Ma della polizia c'è bisogno.

ho l'età per cui da femmina niente leva. Ma ho sempre ritenuto la leva come un posto infelice, inutile se non dannosa per alcuni. Io propongo come già fatto da altri in questo toot un periodo di servizio civile per tutti. Magari breve, tipo 6 mesi, lo troverei formativo e utile per lo sviluppo della persona e per la collettività. Non concordo con il "armati in nome della pace". I militari siano i professionisti che abbracciano questa carriera.

I miei ieri hanno fatto 51 anni di matrimonio. Secondo mia madre la base di questa riuscita e passare il tempo a far sentire in colpa mio padre. E mio padre ci casca da 50 anni e mezzo, Le do di bonus 6 mesi a mia madre ma sono ottimista. Visto il risultato chi sono io per contestare il metodo.
