We have opened proceedings to help Google comply with the Digital Markets Act.
Our goal is to make sure third-party AI and search providers can compete fairly on Android and in search results.
By ensuring equal access to technical features and search data, we can have more innovation and better choices for smartphone users.
The next era of tech should be open to everyone, not just the largest players.

For a fair digital playing field in Europe: https://link.europa.eu/KgXfBK@EUCommission why not simply promote de-googled mobile phone OSes like @e_mydata or @GrapheneOS ? On phones running on these it's pretty easy to use whatever third-party service you like to. And it's the choice done by the device owners, not any company at all.

@BlackWolf @EUCommission @e_mydata @GrapheneOS Fully agree. In addition to that, forbid Google's use of remote attestation to lock people into the Google Android ecosystem.
Google's proprietary remote attestation makes it impossible to run certain apps (like some banking apps) on alternatives like /e/OS and GrapheneOS.

For a fair digital playing field in Europe: https://link.europa.eu/KgXfBK@EUCommission So, not to regulate them and protect creators from them, then. Sigh. These hacks are not the future. Making world-destroying theft more competitive is like fiddling while Rome burns.

The first set of proceedings is not protecting EU citizens from the harm of AI looking into their private data but merely asks Google to share those data with third parties. The second set of proceedings is also not protecting EU citizens from Google collecting their personal data, but merely asks Google to share such data, albeit "anonymized". Does Google get to keep the id'ed data for themselves?
And, after all, why are WE paying for Google's compliance with the law?
