@joel how do you find the Kobo?
I keep debating buying one, think it best fits what I want single purpose e-reader I don’t care about writing & don’t want a tablet with e-ink screen.
The catch is I want something that’s relatively open to putting books on it from multiple sources currently have a Kindle but don’t like how they’re locking down more so ideally would be a device with multiple purchasing options built in. While I don’t think the Kobo has that it’s currently more open than the Kindles.

@JMBragg the Kobo has its own store, the books can be downloaded from the store website in any browser. Some of them have DRM and some don't, you can de-DRM books from them with some workarounds.
I use calibre to transfer my books with a cable.
I have installed #Koreader on it and use it instead of the standard OS reader.
Here's a slightly more detailed review on my blog

Basically, I love it!

@joel
I am using Kobo since... wow... since before Rakuten! I think I bought my first Kobo in 2010 (from an Hong Kong book store, because at the time it was available only in Canada, shipped to Canada and USA only, and Hong Kong!)I think I've bought and read something like 300 books there, since then...
Didn't know I could de-DRM my books with Calibre!
How to? 🤔
