I did get a chance to listen to the excellent Omar Moshine, the Open Source Coordinator at the UN. 🔥 The UN strives to use open source solutions by default and does a lot of gov advocacy.

@Gina EDIC seems to be a specific _kind_ of construction rather than a whole organisations, is that accurate?
Also, it seems to me like they have very little to do with open source stuff, and the three existing ones are focused on a) LLMs b) 'Digital Twins' and c) Crypto.
To be clear, it might be that I've misunderstood things, but that to me doesn't sound like something I'd want to advocate for joining, necessarily.

@pettter It started out as a network and just got established as an organisation. There's EDICs on all sorts of topics. This one is specifically for Open Source Digital Commons (such as workspace software, code platforms etc), any open source solutions that we can collaborate on at a European level.

L'ondata di notizie sempre più assurde e tragiche di questi ultimi mesi sta lasciando il segno su di me. Lungi dal voler smettere di tenermi informato, noto però che il mio umore ne risente. Fatico a trovare un pochino di ottimismo. Un qualche motivo per sperare in un futuro (diciamo non troppo remoto) migliore.
Il clima va a rotoli e i potenti se ne infischiano (finchè non gli costerà talmente tanto che non potranno più fregarsene). Le oscene immagini di guerra. La politica no comment....
