@MinistryOfGoodIdeas This is really disappointing from @GrapheneOS because of all the #manufacturers, #Motorola literally fights #EU standards for #LongTermSupport of #firmware with tooth and nail...
- Like all their arguments against #Fairphone apply to Motorola too, if not harder!
- Cuz I sincerely doubt Motorola will do even half of their "#security" demands and is even worse #AntiRepairDesign than #Google's garbage devices!
I guess #GrapheneOS need an #EgoCheck and instead #LineageOS and other #ROM|s really need to up their game...
- As for me, I don't trust any mobile phone - period!
- And that won't change until I either get the entire #schematics and #reproduceable #firmware builds WITH the entire #SourceCode...

The interesting part is that it will drive momentum and maybe get other big phone manufacturers to move into similar directions. Especially given the current zeitgeist.Lets see if Nokia gets out of their hole and gets into the open source game.

@MinistryOfGoodIdeas Check out the current Motorola Signature (2026) which is close to meeting our requirements but not quite there. They've committed to providing 7 years of support for it. That's part of what we need for GrapheneOS support but with very quick updates for the drivers/firmware and major OS updates. We're going to be working with them to put everything together needed to provide that for GrapheneOS on their devices. It will be ongoing work for years afterwards.

That's part of what we need for GrapheneOS support but with very quick updates for the drivers/firmware and major OS updates. We're going to be working with them to put everything together needed to provide that for GrapheneOS on their devices. It will be ongoing work for years afterwards.
@MinistryOfGoodIdeas The account you're responding to has been extremely hostile towards our project and team for a long time. They're going out of the way to try to make everything negative. They'll spin anything into a negative. We were previously only able to support Pixels since no other devices meet our requirements. There's now an OEM which was willing to make a non-exclusive partnership with us where they're putting serious work into meeting our requirements and providing what we need.

I want the hardware to become as private, repairable and sustainable as possible. -
@MinistryOfGoodIdeas I like #grapheneos a lot tbh I just wish there was a way to disable some of the hardening features like hardened malloc by default and allow for root access without having to break verified boot

@xz @MinistryOfGoodIdeas removing hardening features makes the device more performant and reduces the amount of energy consumed and having root is necessary to inspect the apps you've installed and or android system stuff

Yeah, the audience for this use case is probably minuscule, so I don't think someone would put in the effort to fork GrapheneOS just to get rid of most of the efforts of GrapheneOS, so that will probably never happen. -

@fluttersh @xz there are alternatives for deGoogled OS.
I think GrapheneOS is especially designed for being privacy focused.

No, the main focus of the project is security and privacy while still being able to use Android apps like normal. There are other projects that don't focus on security, like LineageOS, but they don't offer optional confined Google Play services, only microG, a reverse-engineered implementation of Google Play services. So what you're asking here for is either a GrapheneOS fork with all security measures stripped, a LineageOS fork with optional Google Play services and Protect API and other features like storage scope implementation, or a complete new project based on AOSP that has this functionality. If you root your device, a lot of safety checks will fail, and therefore a lot of apps and functions will just not work. Therefore, I think no one will make an effort to get less app functionality and security. Less security means more attack surface to get your data leaked, which means you're also less private. -

Sto nella Sardegna meridionale in una zona che è classificata a clima subtropicale. Il rischio di gelate del terreno è pressoché nullo, le piante a ciclo autunno primaverile come ad esempio pisello o aglio o cipolla o le patate conviene seminarle a novembre-dicembre. C'è un po' di stasi a gennaio, ma a febbraio c'è già una ripresa vegetativa.

Le patate riciclate le ho seminate a dicembre, quelle da seme purtroppo le ho avute a fine gennaio proprio nel periodo in cui stava piovendo parecchio. Le prime sono già avanti nella crescita, le altre sono spuntate qualche giorno fa, dalle mie parti è già tardi.
