How to spot a nonconsensual porn account:

  • How to spot a nonconsensual porn account:

    0. They're posting photos/clips of *someone else*.

    1. They're not part of the community (they don't reply to posts, and they're hardly following anyone).

    2. They do a *lot* of hashtag stuffing (30+ hashtags, and they're all NSFW).

    3. They post nudes with no credit or attribution (some provide a nod to the model or site, but no links to support them).

    4. They don't provide alt-text (because, again, they don't care about community or accessibility).

    5. They have wording like "I don't claim to own any of the images I post", and "DM me to have photo removed".

    6. They have account names like "XXXPornBot", "Hot4Dick", or "BigNaturals".

    7. Their profile photo looks like it was scraped from OnlyFans (and probably was).

    8. They post porn photos/clips *prolifically* (and the format is nearly identical).

If you see accounts displaying these behaviors, please report them. They're stealing other people's work and posting photos of their nude bodies without the subject's' consent. It's wrong, and in many places, illegal.

Mods like actionable reports, so be sure to tag appropriate posts and leave a note like "Reposting porn without subject's consent", so we can quickly determine the best course of action.

Lastly, if you like porn, support original content, by local creators. There's plenty of it if you look, and who knows, maybe you'll find some awesome folx and help build a better Fedi in the process.

  • @pfr Yes, this works for me, too. I immediately use a cover (because the only time I didn't use a cover, many years ago, it fell and a dent appeared). But from time to time I change the screen protector and cover and it feels like I have a new phone!

I liked this one, but it landed with a wet thud. I presume everyone's too busy drinking.

Hi #fediverse! I'm working on Hackers' Pub, a small #ActivityPub-powered social platform for developers and tech folks. We're currently drafting a content #moderation (#flag/#report) system and would really appreciate any feedback from those who have experience with federated moderation—we're still learning. Some ideas we're exploring: Protecting reporter anonymity while giving reported users enough context to understand and improve Graduated responses (warning → content removal → suspension) rather than jumping to bans Using LLM to help match reports to code of conduct provisions Supporting ActivityPub Flag activity for cross-instance reports Our guiding principle is that moderation should be about growth, not punishment. Expulsion is the last resort. Here's the full draft if you're curious: https://github.com/hackers-pub/hackerspub/issues/192. If you've dealt with moderation in federated contexts, what challenges did you run into? What worked well? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Just wanted to thank everyone! With your help we found a handful of new instances we missed. All told we're pretty confident there are 56 Mastodon instances with a strong connection to Canada. We think our method could easily be expanded to account for other software, too. Ghost and GoToSocial, for example, or older systems like PeerTube.

@view I mean, I knew they had poor taste, but I didn't imagine it was that bad.
