Them: running `pkg install` as root refuses to run due to insufficient privileges
Me: Hmm, could you provide the output of these commands to determine which pkg is running and its extended attributes, whether it happens with pkg-static, status of mount points, and any extended attributes of the package database that might be read-only
Them: here's a screen-cap of those outputs
[output of mount(8) shows it's an ISO image, likely an installer boot image]
Me: Yep, there's your problem, you're in a read-only environment

They had no other choice... I announced to them that I was going to delete my Whatsapp account and if they wanted to keep messaging with me, Signal was the only option. And they did!

@stefano I'm sorry to hear this, Stefano. I'm sure you were looking forward to it, but health and family come first and you're definitely setting the right priorities here.
It's good to hear that things are improving, albeit slowly. So fingers crossed they will continue to improve and you'll be able to attend the next conference.
