Re: your issues are you using a home server or a VPS?
I've had zero issues this year with GoToSocial, Pixelfed, PeerTube, NextCloud and Friendica... but I'm using a reliable VPS.
Re: Mastodon, I hear that it's quite resource intensive. That's why I opted for GoToSocial instead...

@_elena @yunohost As long as your guide does not try to paper over the painful fact that self-hosting is not an once-and-done affair, but rather a continuous commitment, since the hosted services absolutely *need* to be maintained, you're OK in my book. :) 👍

@_elena So gonna read this. Thank you. I'm using @yunohost (on Hetzner) but it is still a struggle bc various things keep not woring (regularly can't update mastodon e.g.)
