@cancel I appreciate that the introduction is honest that both classical and jazz theory are limited in their usefulness if one's goal is to learn how to make contemporary music. unfortunately that is kinda my goal. it does explain why my prior attempts at a theory driven approach failed

@aeva I might not be fully understanding your message. the SoundQuest stuff references Jazz and Classical theory, but mostly as context. It doesn't teach you Jazz or Classical theory.
(I'm reading the "unfortunately" part of your message to mean that you think SoundQuest isn't what you want. But, you also say that your goal is to learn contemporary music theory, so I'm not sure which thing I'm getting mixed up about.)

@cancel oh, no I mean it looks useful, I just thought the intro was illuminating for why my earlier attempts at a more theory centered approach to learning composition fell apart
