The article will be published next week on my blog: blog.elenarossini.com - and if I'm chaotic neutral, shared via an awesome URL I just grabbed (the wsocial peeps were amateurs and didn't register related domains)... @ErickaSimone thanks Ericka! You can actually set the character limit you want on a self-hosted GoToSocial. 5000 is the default but you could probably increase it too 🤗 I love it

@_elena Yes, it's a complex issue.
I'm sure that if more people in the Fediverse had to show their ID, we would have less anti-Semitism, glorification of terrorism, and hate.
But I understand the objections. -

@_elena As far as EuroSky is concerned, I'm not yet sure whether it's really ignorance. However, I agree with your observation on that point; it certainly looks as though something is going to be launched in a few months that EuroSky is supposed to offer already. But even there, there are only promises at the moment, and they won't meet their deadline.

@_elena Fediverse is the drug, but not for that kind of disease. Fediverse is about caring for relationships and taking responsibility for what you post; it's about how you perceive yourself in relation to others. Raise all the critical issues regarding wsocial, but remember that, as things stand, Mastodon protocol does not guarantee data protection (feeds and other data are public and grabbable via public APIs). Please remember this, if your goal is mass-adoption of fedi.

The battle against the techbros is very important among those bigger problems.So much of the current global craziness is a consequence of people consuming media that can easily be used for centralized individualized mass manipulation.

That's EXACTLY what my first impression with the media coverage about WSocial was! Even the investigative journalist Lars Wienand for T-Online! He did a little bit more than copying the Press Release, but he didn't question WSocial at all!
So we really NEED your blog article! Don't listen to the loudest voices this time! 👍

¹ la solita fregatura: stanchezza generale, temperatura che è salita a ben 37 per mezz'ora e poi tornata normale, neanche a sufficienza per un giorno di malattia, e per di più succede nel weekend!
