WTF ssh.
Recently, I am unable to *interactively* ssh in to my home Mac. "ssh host whoami" works but if I try to get a shell, it hangs forever. ^C, ^Z and ~. don't work. The socket is in ESTABLISHED, and after about 2 1/2 minutes it dies with "client_loop: send disconnect: Broken pipe". The -v log looks exactly like it does for successful connections to other hosts up to that point. WTF?
macOS 14.7.7 running openssh @10.2p1.

https://jwz.org/b/ykxZ@jwz When I last experienced something similar, it turned out to be a bad router somewhere that broke path MTU discovery. Symptoms were SSH connections dying after some time, but immediately after running a TUI app like top or vim. Lowering the MTU on my interface from 1500 to around 1200 "fixed" that for me.
You could try to ping your Mac with successively larger packets (ping -l), see if that's your issue.

https://jwz.org/b/ykxZ@jwz interactively, as in "have a pty", so I'm assuming
ssh -Tworks butssh -tdoes not? doesssh -T bash -l(no pty, but telling bash to act as a login shell) work?I'm wondering if it's some interaction between something executing your .profile for interactive logins (like talking to keychain or somethig?)
