City of about 1/2 million people. Many, many people were doing defensive work around the city and could not attend the crowd. I could believe (and be impressed with) tens of thousands.

@benroyce Danish media did the exact same when somewhere between 50-100K protesters gathered last year in Copenhagen, in support of the people of Gaza - "thousands".

You get the feeling they at least tried "several" on for size, before realizing it might give the game away a little to hard...

@benroyce @DebErupts It's difficult with large demos, because organisers will tend to optimistically inflate numbers, while the hostile media will always go with the most conservative figure - or even revert to simply "thousands", which gives little sense of true scale without actually lying!

Based on all the footage I've seen so far, I'm gonna stick my neck out and say 50 - 60,000 at this one event. But that's to say nothing of all the other resistance efforts that happened in the twin cities.

Also do not discount the hyper logical activity that goes completely under the radar.

Brenna Perez has been pointing this out in her own channel. She’s an amazing commenter. She was doing on the on the ground observation and reporting of the hyper local efforts arising from chains of community trust. Terrified immigrants are only trusting people they know, but community members are definitely coming forward to help their neighbors
