Parent: "He didn't say thank you? You need to say thank you!"
Me: 👀 "I... actually was curious how he liked it." -

1) I ask something,
2) the other person responds to a question I didn't ask,
3) I emphasize that what I asked was what I wanted to know,
4) surprised, the person then confirms that I actually meant the question as asked and only then answers it.
So exhausting. I just want to ask a question and get an answer without having to play charades or do this hokey-pokey. -

- she asks something
- I answer X
- she thinks I answered Y
- I have to spend a lot of time convincing her I actually mean X
- she may finally be convinced I mean X
