However, WordPress also produces inconvenient HTML code these days, which should be optimized for RSS. And it's not promoted enough. Too few websites still have an RSS icon, even though practically every WordPress website offers it automatically.

I love markdown for RSS because it’s just enough html without the stuff every reader has to strip out.
The feeds we generate in WordLand have an element that contains the markdown text for the user’s writing.
