Seeing as I might have a midlife crisis any time now, let’s talk about: Tattoos!

@Nickiquote @MamaLake I had some big tattoos done before I was 20. My tastes changed and 20 years later I had them all recoloured and touched up to match my current taste.
A tattoo can evolve, as you say nothing is forever.
I have never regretted them.
BTW the pain creates a lot of happy chemicals in your brain which is why people sometimes have a lot of tattoo work done at once.

@Nickiquote I got three, at ages 26, 29, and 33 respectively. Basically, every few years I went through something, followed by a strong urge to get particular lyrics permanently inked on me with a picture of something I like 😅 although I'm horribly aware all three lyrics are by men, so they better not turn out to be wrong'uns.

@Nickiquote I have 6 tattooos and 2 of them are cover-ups because I was a dumb 20-something 🙃 but a clever artist can cover up small shitty linework with something big and colorful pretty well if you're willing to pay for someone who knows what they're doing

@Nickiquote My parents didn't get tattoos until after I did, when they were in their fifties, and they're both very pleased with what they have. My dad has full forearm sleeves. Actually, my older brother was in his forties when he got his first tattoo and now he has a full calf sleeve of horror movie villains. Pinhead is on his kneecap.

I'd get more now if I could afford it. Some of the tattoos I have I wouldn't get now, but I've never stopped liking them.

@Nickiquote Get all the tattoos you want I you got the money! I would love to have my body full of them, but... you know. I'm just an underground artist/teacher/dad. Money isn't an abundant resource.

@Nickiquote I marked my midlife crisis by getting an earring. It got pulled out on a branch about 7 years later when I was mowing the lawn. The hole has long since closed up.

@Nickiquote Don’t have any myself, but am pro-tattoo for others. I noticed however that I’ve never met anyone with just one tattoo. Seems to be the kind of thing where you get one and then it’s “what’s my next tatto going to be.”

@Nickiquote I'm terrified of needles so the idea of a tattoo scares me. Yet I do want to have a zip tattooed on my hip replacement scar which is about 30cm long...

It'll probably stay as an unimplemented idea, due to the potential infection risk. I'm mildly immunocompromised.
