#introduction hey there! new to Mastodon, still figuring out how it works. I've been getting into self-hosting and really hating on big tech lately, so Mastodon seems great.
Bit about myself:
• Otaku for many years, mostly only have time for the occasional manga binge these days. Always exploring Japanese music, literature, and other media
• Recently got into Japanese handicrafts, like sashiko and kogin. I have big love for anime-inspired creators who make handmade goodies
• chiikawa very goodA few of my recent & all-time favs:
• DBZ
• panpanya
• Kino's Journey
• Witch Hat AtelierHope to make new friends here, nice to meetcha!!

@MisterMaker yeah buying/owning/driving a campervan is ridiculously expensive in NL (just like everything else yay).
I was looking into buying abroad, but I think you can't bring it into the Netherlands then, which sounds challenging.

@wohali @_elena @tommi @mavnn also, I suspect dealing remotely with someone who doesn't speak Italian too well may "attract" extra fees. He may want to take a short term rental (generally more expensive, but lower upfront costs) and then search for longer term rental while in already in Italy, ideally accompanied by someone local. But hopefully the Fediverse has some leads 🤞

@Gina My remarks/tips:
Spain is probably the best, they are more relaxed then NL, they or more open than NL they promote having a business.
Campervan road tax doubled this year, could be interesting to buy it abroad. But then you cannot really go on holiday in NL, although I am not sure how strict the checks are on this.

@informapirata @informatica completamente d'accordo con tutto, ho lo stesso pensiero riguardo al software, ai framework software, ai layer su layer di librerie e alla fuffa digitale che viene aggiunta ad ogni versione per una monetizzazione estrema.
Infatti per riprendermi da questo delirio moderno mi ritrovo spesso impegnato in progetti retro, dove ogni singolo byte conta.
