@jamigibbs A few days ago, I suggested white drawing leads for marking dark wood for #woodworking but noted that I hadn't actually tried them yet. In the spirit of putting my money where my mouth is, I ordered a pack to try on a scrap of walnut. 12 leads for US$6.99, about $0.58 each.Top part of the photo is the lead, bottom part is chalk. They're ... meh. Not as good as I'd hoped. Slightly crumbly if you press too hard. More visible than my wife's fabric marking pencils, but not as good as chalk. Doesn't fill a knife line as well as chalk.Could work, but chalk is probably better if you're OK with thick lines or fill a knife line..

    Guest?
dear #woodworking #making #repair #crafts #weaving bubble, i am absolutely stumped. i saw photos of this easy chair’s woven back rest, and my mind is just completely blanking on how this works.there’s a wooden frame, it is visibly spiral-wrapped in cane (or rattan or whatever), and the strands only travel between opposing sides in the front. there doesn’t seem to be room for any of the strands to make an about-face so it can travel back to the other side in front. if they keep their twisting direction, they’d have to travel on the back side of the frame, which they evidently don’t.any ideas anyone? (if you can boost or ping someone in the know, i’d be most grateful because i’m set to lose sleep over this)photos of chair’s back rest from front and back attached.

Here is my new stick chair. I started from an Irish-style model from Christopher Schwarz, and experimented with the front leg angle and positioning, the backrest shape and the hand shape ; I also made it a bit wider and a inclined it a bit more than two fingers. It will stand at the end of our dining table, were I hope my children and the cat will fight to sit in it. #woodworking

I like the smile formed by the bed's legs where it's connections will go.
