@EuroBSDCon was a blast as always. The amount of work put in by the organisers is incredible, and both the local crew (Karlo and friends, you've been a great help and I owe you an audio cable!) and the video gang (@mischa@exquisite.social, your camera saved the day .. reluctantly; @dexter and the rest of the @bsdtv gang y'all gonna need better dongles ;) bent over backwards to accommodate my somewhat eccentric needs.

@rolery Ho una hot take su sta roba. Non prenderà mai piede. Sarà utile per ringiovanire gli attori e magari far recitare qualche attore passato a miglior vita. Ma la gente vuole vedere persone vere che provano emozioni vere. Il motivo per cui Avatar ha avuto successo è anche questo. Attori e attrici vere che “comandano” modelli CGI. Un’emozione sintetica sarà anche indistinguibile da quella reale ma la consapevolezza di star guardando qualcosa di finto rimane nel subconscio. E la SAG che dice?

@beeoproblem there's all sorts of normal, prosocial, productive things you can do with LLMs. for example, you can use revision control history to find the names of the people who have wronged you, and then tell the LLM to pretend to be them

@aeva if I'm ever forced to use an LLM in my work I suspect I'd do something like this.
Have a script throw prompts at it in the background while I actively discard its outputs.

Qui una simpatica (e non facilissima) modellizzazione matematica che spiega alcune cose, come ad esempio il fatto che nel traffico scorrevole anche solo pochi autisti che "escono fuori ritmo" possono generare un ingorgo.

E' una minuscola ribellione personale che precede di anni l'ia, gli smart glass, i riconoscimenti facciali.
Fosse per me i telefoni potrebbero non avere la fotocamera frontale.
(poi se qualcuno pubblica una foto in cui sorride, la guardo volentieri)

I don't entirely mind the idea of a LLM programming tool running while I work, so long as it is completely powerless to do anything at all, which includes forbidding it from making suggestions. I am more productive when there is a captive entity watching in horror as I slowly and carefully place every block into the square hole. My rubber duck also works fine for this, however.
