It's something I never thought about in twitter times.
Landing on the fediverse, I read Eugen opinion on the matter, and I understood why "quote reply" was something he would not want to encourage from the gui.Somehow I felt that organizing harassment without an algorithm promoting viral content was not as easy but, anyway, not being a harasser, I quickly adapted to simply reply and, eventually, boost the original post.
I feel that those UI restrictions to what you can, or cannot "quote reply", could give a false sense of safety
