@thesaigoneer thank you! I'm usually writing those posts while doing things for myself. I'm not a writer - I'm an end user 🙂

Still using nvi on Slackware. No plugins. No syntax highlighting. Just speed, predictability, and classic vi behavior, even with multi-GB files.I wrote a short guide explaining why nvi still matters and how its architecture enables fast, low-memory editing.📄 https://4c6e.xyz/code_notes.html (NVI Editor Guide)📄 https://git.sr.ht/~r1w1s1/code-notes/blob/main/notes/NVI_Editor_Guide.txt (plain text)#slackware #editor #nvi #vi #unix #minimalism

Building Chromium for Slackware (contd.)It's been 'fun' compiling the newest Cheomium 143 sources... as usual when Google updates the major version number. Again, it is momentarily not possible to compile the Chromium sources using Slackware's own compilers. I get a Rust error "error: extern blocks must be unsafe" in compiling 'liballoc_error_handler_impl_ffi.rlib'. which I have been unable to fix...https://blog.slackware.nl/building-chromium-for-slackware-contd/#Software #Slackware

So... @fedora has made a policy explicitly allowing AI code. So I have to change my home distro. @gentoo and @netbsd both have specific policies against it, but I ain't about doing a Gentoo install (sorry, guys, I love you for this, but I need a binary first distro), and NetBSD ain't great for gaming AFAIK.So... any other Distros wanna step up and do the right thing? @archlinux? @opensuse? @debian? #VoidLinux? @alpinelinux? Just a public statement that says "No, we don't want that crap" would be plenty --- I understand the difficulty of enforcing the policy, but setting it as a community/commit standard would go a long way towards making a lot of us feel better.(Boost for visibility, please?)#AI #Linux #Distro #BSD
