still not full golden hour, and i had to creep around in someone's yard to get this (and there was a little breeze), but i think you can see more of the effect. and i'll keep looking!

@inquiline oh wow wow wow that's so amazing, fantastic photo. Totally worth stepping into somebody's yard. (I say, when it's not me doing the stepping, and living safely in a country where people don't usually shoot first)

thank you! i'll keep looking!!! this flower with the showy variegated petals maybe makes up some for the lack of the light effect i was seeking
(i don't know these neighbors but they sometimes give away little succulent cuttings, i think saying "i stepped into your yard to get a shot of your gorgeous flower" would buy me a pass... in this neighborhood i'm mostly more worried about being run over or shot by drivers than residents/homeowners š¬)

@inquiline they're so lovely! Do they turn darker red as they mature, or are they just different color varieties?

they're different color varieties, tho it may also be that the ones that are more variegated within the same bloom have a changing effect as they unfurl? but some are very monochrome like the yellow one i initially posted
