I guess we are all set for tomorrow's un-workshop on Growing the Open Social Web.
It's a bit of experiment. Un-conferences are bad enough :-) and now we are doing an un-workshop! We'll try and marry the high-intensity peer conversations of an unconference with the well-thought-out proposals of a workshop. We need both to make tangible progress on plans for how to grow. In theory, that should work out just fine. In practice: we'll find out! 1/2
@dillyd From my experience, the Mastodon web interface has (had?) trouble disabling animations for .webm images. I have that setting turned off as well, and so far, I've only seen .webm images be animated without me hovering over them. Haven't seen this happen with profile pictures yet, but it would be a plausible explanation at least
What Brings People to FreeBSD?Recent comments on our community post showed just how diverse the paths into FreeBSD can be. Some users have been running FreeBSD since the 1990s for its stability and predictable behavior. Others found it through TrueNAS, books, mentors, user groups, or simply curiosity. Thank you to everyone who shared their experience. These stories help newcomers see the many ways FreeBSD supports real-world work.#FreeBSD #OpenSource #Community #FreeBSDFoundation
I'm thinking of moving from mastodon.social and I'm curious about people's experiences elsewhere. Stuff that matters to me: * moderation, balanced by openness and being welcoming to newcomers * fast updates / I want to forget about the tech stack because things just seem to work* demonstrated longevity & sustainability* an extensive collection of delightful emoji* a name/focus I vibe withWhat do you like about your current instance? What are the downsides?#AskFedi #AskMastodon
