@thomasfuchs And forty years of no need to learn to touchtype bc everything will be voice input. 😹
@calicoday @thomasfuchs
2 things.
1: I was the only boy in my Typing class in H.S. But my ability to touch type (fast) has made possibly the single greatest positive affect on my career.2: 3 of my uncles were in WWII. The youngest of them was very worried he'd become cannon fodder. But they found he could type. He spent the war as a clerk in Eisenhower's office. Ergo, same result for him as for me.

Expert systems are inevitable
Don’t get left behind, Flash is the future
Java Applets will replace all other software
Cryptocurrency will obsolete fiat currency
Better claim your stake in the Metaverse
By 2015, we will all have self-driving cars
Pen computing is going to end keyboards on laptops
You’ll look so stupid if you miss out on NFTs
640KB should be enough for everyone.

@thomasfuchs can someone explain to me how they tied crypto to a fiat currency? Where is the inherent value in a bitcoin?

@crumbletiltskin @thomasfuchs The inherent value is in mass delusion. Or I guess in faith that money, launderers and drug dealers will always need a way to do their business. 🤷🏻♂️

@User47 @crumbletiltskin it’s literally the worst way to do this, the whole point is that it has a built-in audit trail

@thomasfuchs Forty years ago last month I got my first software development job.
So it's about forty years and 30 days since I first heard someone say "... and we won't need programmers any more". -

@CryogenicIce9 I mean at least that kind of led to HTML5
@thomasfuchs @CryogenicIce9 the were so many things in XHTML2 that were better than HTML5 that it's hard to count that a win

@thomasfuchs @User47 @crumbletiltskin it's the promise is pseudonymity that fools them (you can track wallet IDs, not people; as if that would stop inquiries)

@oblomov @thomasfuchs @CryogenicIce9 The main thing being that XHTML 2.0 was a community effort, while the "living standard" model just puts "give control to whoever produces working code the fastest" in lipstick and a glittery dress and calls it a winner.
