Just to be clear:
This is not just because somebody at Hilton Corporate has a stellar conscience. I mean, somebody there very well might — but that is not the reason for this. Corporations are by and large amoral actors even when the individuals within them are not.
This is surely because of activists banging pots and pans and drum kits outside the Hilton where ICE agents in MSP were staying, making the hotel a nightmare for everyone staying there and thus losing Hilton business.
Keep it up, activists!
@inthehands Oh, that makes sense. I figured it was because they were worried that their employees would wind up deported and they'd have trouble getting new ones, and was surprised that a large corporation would have that much foresight

As several replies have noted, Hilton‘s national leadership is trying to distance themselves from the whole thing — “We welcome everyone! Please don’t come at us!” — and are making it clear this was a local decision.
The problem is that now Hilton is in the spotlight, and if they force the local Hilton to let ICE back in, they’ll put themselves smack in the middle of a national firestorm (like the one Target still hasn’t recovered from…or worse).

Honestly I’m kind of surprised at this point that that Hilton gets through even a single night without a fire drill.

Hotels should tell all persons wanting govt rates that they need to unlock their social media for five years of inspection before their reservation can be confirmed...

It's cute, I know, but think about it...nearly 100% of these guys advocate for and promote violence, rape, etc. As no doubt other illegal activities. It's a legitimate basis for refusing service to them.

@MissGayle @inthehands I'm all for refusing service. Something, something, "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner..." If they want to cosplay Army, then they should live with the rules.

The roberts court will certainly let that stand at their first opportunity.

@inthehands I waited about a half hour on Hilton's digital assistant to supposedly correspond with a real person, although it still felt like I was corresponding with a bot.
One snippet:
Them: We are actively investigating this matter with this individual hotel, and can confirm that Hilton works with governments, law enforcement and community leaders around the world to ensure our properties are open and inviting to everyone.
Me: Hilton is glad the hotel changed its policies, and I'm horrified. No one should be providing accommodations to DHS.
Me: I don't want Hilton to be open and inviting to people at DHS.
But I did get an email to write to: HiltonHonors@Hilton.com
